Tokyo, March 3 (Jiji Press)–The ruling Liberal Democratic Party unveiled on Tuesday its proposals to ease the impact of the coronavirus spread on the Japanese economy, calling on the government to consider a supplementary budget for fiscal 2020.

The request comes as the government’s initial budget for the fiscal year from next month is set to be enacted by the end of this month, after it cleared the House of Representatives, the all-important lower chamber of parliament, last week.

In the proposals, the LDP said the government should flexibly consider a fiscal 2020 extra budget, if necessary, while closely watching economic indicators for January-March.

The party also called for launching a special lending scheme at government-backed lenders, providing financial assistance to Japanese businesses in China and setting up an inquiry desk for small businesses.

The proposals will be submitted to the government shortly.
