During a press conference on Mar. 4, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga commented on the proposal made by Russian President Vladimir Putin in January this year that a summit be held of the leaders of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (U.S., China, Russia, U.K., and France). Suga said, “It’s important that dialogue be held.” When asked whether he is concerned that Japan cannot attend such important international conferences, Suga said, “I do have concerns. It’s important to be in constant contact with these countries.”
