The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) released the results of a survey on the impact of the spread of infection by the new coronavirus on small and medium-sized enterprises. Out of the companies that responded, 52.4% said they are “worried that they will be affected if the outbreak drags on.”

The survey was conducted from Feb. 12 through 18, and targeted 2,627 member companies of 336 chambers of commerce and industry. Asked about the specific effects of the virus, 61.8 %, the largest share, cited “a decrease in the number of orders for and sales of products and services and in customer traffic.” Respondents were allowed to choose multiple responses. (Abridged)
