All networks reported that the GOJ officially decided today to revise an existing government ordinance to ban and punish the resale of face masks, which are in short supply due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus. According to the reports, starting on March 15, if an individual or a company resells face masks at a higher price than what they cost, including on Internet auction sites and resale apps, they will be sentenced to a maximum of one year in prison or fined up to one million yen. NHK said the ordinance is expected to be issued on March 11 and enter into force on March 15.
