NTT Data has developed a new system in which the “Michibiki” satellite automatically sends information on disasters such as earthquakes to local governments’ official disaster wireless systems.
Information on disasters such as earthquakes, tsunami, and floods sent by the Meteorological Agency to the satellite will be broadcast automatically by speakers everywhere. The system eliminates the need for relaying information via local transfer facilities. Starting in April this year, approximately ten local governments are expected to introduce the system. (Abridged)
