All Nippon Airways (ANA) decided to postpone the launch of its new flights to Milan, Italy and Shenzhen, China. Both routes were to operate using Haneda Airport’s increased international flight slots, which are to be added from March 29. The postponement is due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. ANA had announced on March 13 reductions and cuts to its European and North American routes. Its expansion strategy for international routes, positioned as a pillar of its growth, is being impacted.
The flight to Shenzhen was scheduled to start on March 29 and the flight to Milan on April 20. In light of the new coronavirus infection spreading in both countries, the flights will be postponed for the time being. The flights’ new launch dates are not fixed. ANA had planned to start 12 new routes to Europe, North America, and Asia using Haneda’s expanded landing slots. (Abridged)
