Japan, China, South Korea discuss response to coronavirus

Saturday’s Yomiuri and Nikkei wrote that Foreign Minister Motegi held a videoconference on Friday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha to discuss efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic. The papers wrote that the three foreign ministers agreed to step up cooperation between their nations in such efforts as strengthening border controls and sharing information about the development of a vaccine for COVID-19. They also agreed that the three nations will hold a teleconference between their health ministers at an early date.

Yomiuri and Mainichi wrote that Motegi expressed during the three-way teleconference Japan’s desire to hold the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in their “complete form” and that his Chinese and ROK counterparts expressed support.
