NHK reported online that Acting Navy Secretary Modly announced on Tuesday that three sailors aboard the nuclear aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt have tested positive for the new coronavirus. The network said the carrier is in the Pacific Ocean after calling at Da Nang, Vietnam, in early March. According to the U.S. Navy, this marks the first COVID-19 infection aboard a deployed U.S. warship. The network said the three sailors have already been transferred to a military hospital and all the individuals they had close contact with have been identified and will be quarantined if necessary.
