NHK posted on its website a list of business types requested by the Tokyo government to temporarily close under the state of emergency.
Facilities requested to temporarily close
- Entertainment facilities, such as cabarets, nightclubs, dance halls, bars, Internet cafes, manga cafes, karaoke parlors, shooting galleries, ticket booths for horse-racing, bicycle-racing, and boat-racing, and live music venues
- Universities and special training schools, other educational facilities, driving schools, and cram schools with total floor space of more than 1,000 square meters
- Athletic facilities such as gymnasiums, swimming pools, bowling alleys, and sports clubs; pachinko and mahjong parlors; and game centers
- Stage theaters, movie theaters, and comedy houses
- Assembly halls, public halls, and exhibition halls; museums, art museums, libraries, and exhibition facilities at hotels and inns with total floor space of more than 1,000 square meters
- Commercial establishments with total floor space of more than 1,000 square meters that sell nonessential products or provide nonessential services
- Universities and cram schools with total floor space of 1,000 square meters or less
- Assembly halls and exhibition facilities with total floor space of 1,000 square meters or less
- Commercial establishments with total floor space of 1,000 square meters or less
- Cram schools and small shops with total floor space of 100 square meters or less (if they choose to continue operating, they will be requested to take measures to prevent infection)
Other requests

- Schools other than universities will be requested to suspend the use of facilities and events.
- Nursery schools and after-school childcare facilities will be requested to cooperate by providing minimum required services and taking measures to prevent infection.
- Welfare services and health medical services will be requested to cooperate by taking measures to prevent infection.
