Sunday’s Nikkei reported that ten prefectural governments, including Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Aichi, have secured a total of 4,600 hotel and other non-hospital rooms to accommodate COVID-19 patients with mild or no symptoms. For example, the Kanagawa government has secured a hotel complex that can house as many as 2,300 patients. The daily added, however, that more rooms will probably become necessary across the nation as the number of cases surges.
