NHK reported on Wednesday evening that former NHK announcer Miki Sumiyoshi was hospitalized with pneumonia and later tested positive for COVID-19. According to the network, Sumiyoshi, now a freelance announcer, developed a fever on April 16, was hospitalized after being diagnosed with pneumonia on April 19, and tested positive for the virus on April 22.
