Keidanren to draw up guidelines for reopening businesses

Japan Business Federation [Keidanren] Chairman Hiroaki Nakanishi said on May 5 that the business lobby will draw up guidelines for resuming business activities while preventing the spread of coronavirus infections and release them by May 14. Nakanishi told reporters about the plan after holding a teleconference with Economic Revitalization Minister Nishimura Yasutoshi and others in Tokyo.

Nakanishi said, “We need to draw up overall guidelines first and then break them down according to the realities of each industry,” expressing the view that Keidanren needs to compile not only general guidelines but also those for individual industries or facilities. (Abridged)
