Gaku Shibata to become director of Yomiuri Shimbun’s Osaka headquarters

The Yomiuri Shimbun’s Osaka headquarters announced on May 28 that Gaku Shibata will become its next director as of June 9. Shibata is currently the managing director of Yomiuri Shimbun’s Tokyo headquarters. Takeshi Mizoguchi, the current director of the Osaka headquarters, will become president of Yomiuri Land as of June 18.


Shibata has previously served as the editor of Yomiuri’s International News Department and chief of the General American Bureau. In 2017, he became the managing director of Yomiuri’s Tokyo headquarters. In addition, Shibata has served as the chairman of the editorial board since 2019.
