Okinawa police arrest a U.S. civilian base worker for assault

On May 30, the Okinawa police arrested on the spot a U.S. Marine Corps civilian base worker, 41, for slapping the face of an unemployed female customer, 20, while arguing with her at a restaurant in the Uechi district, Okinawa City. The suspect is denying the charge, saying, “I don’t’ remember.” The police are conducting a thorough investigation of the allegation. 

 

The allegation is that around 1:50 a.m. on May 30, the suspect slapped the face of the woman once at the restaurant in the city.

 

According to the police, the suspect and the woman don’t know each other. A woman who was with the victim held the suspect and handed him over to police officers who arrived on the scene in response to the incident. The woman was not injured.
