Okinawa Times wrote that Director General Tanaka of the Defense Ministry’s Okinawa Bureau commented on Monday on the policy of the U.S. Department of Defense not to disclose detailed information about COVID-19 infections within the U.S. military, including the number of cases at each base. The defense bureau chief made the comment in response to a request from opposition members of the Okinawa prefectural assembly. Tanaka reportedly said he believes that the U.S. military shares information with Japanese health and other authorities, including the Okinawa defense bureau, adding that there are no COVID-19 cases at U.S. bases in Okinawa at present.
