During a press conference on June 2, junior coalition party Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi mentioned that China’s National People’s Congress adopted national security legislation to be imposed on Hong Kong at its recent meeting, saying, “Guaranteeing the ‘one country, two systems’ policy for the next 50 years is an international promise, I would like to see China give consideration to its relationship of trust with the international community.” He also made a reference to the postponed visit to Japan by Chinese leader Xi Jinping as a state guest. “I want both Japan and China to improve their bilateral ties of trust and make efforts to realize reciprocal visit by the two countries’ leaders,” he said.
