Ryukyu Shimpo wrote that four Futenma-based Ospreys were observed flying after 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday despite the existing measure to prevent aircraft noise by restricting flight operations between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The paper wrote that noise levels as high as 96.2 decibels were detected at one of the prefecture’s measurement sites in Ginowan at 10:52 p.m. The paper wrote that the late-night aircraft operations took place despite the fact that Ginowan Mayor Matsukawa had filed a request with the Defense Ministry’s Okinawa Bureau on June 5 to give consideration to the lives of local citizens.
