Nearly 1,400 people test positive in month since lifting of state of emergency

Yomiuri wrote in a front-page article that a total of 1,397 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus nationwide since the state of emergency was lifted on May 25, with 748 of the new cases being in Tokyo, followed by Fukuoka at 176, Hokkaido at 156, and Kanagawa at 106. There were 17 prefectures where no new cases were confirmed and 21 prefectures with less than ten new cases. A total of 27 “cluster infections” have occurred in Tokyo and four other prefectures, including those at karaoke establishments in Hokkaido.
