NHK reported that Pentagon released on Wednesday a list of 20 Chinese companies that have ties with the Chinese government or military, saying it is keeping a close watch on the possible leakage of state-of-the-art technologies. The network said the list includes China’s state-owned enterprises as well as Huawei Technologies Co., Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co., and China Mobile Communications Group. The network added that, according to some U.S. media outlets, the compilation of the list will give President Trump the authority to impose financial sanctions against these companies. Meanwhile, FBI Director Wray reportedly said in an interview with Fox News that China is the biggest threat to the U.S. and that the bureau is currently conducting more than 2,000 investigations related to China. The FBI director reportedly said that investigations into cases of industrial espionage by China are rapidly increasing, adding that American companies from startups to major corporations in various sectors are being targeted and calling for vigilance.
