NHK reported at noon that following the increasing number of new COVID-19 cases in Tokyo, Economic Revitalization Minister Nishimura said the GOJ should consider asking nightlife establishments that are not following the infection prevention guidelines to temporarily close in accordance with Article 24 of the special measures law against the new coronavirus. Nishimura reportedly told the press this morning: “It is important to forge cooperative relationships with entertainment establishments, but given the rise in the number of cases, we must respond with a sense of urgency.”
