Yomiuri wrote that the Education Ministry is likely to ask the nation’s university authorities to swiftly disclose their plans for the semester that will begin in September, noting that they will be urged to offer in-person courses while enforcing social distancing and other infection control and prevention measures. According to the ministry, about 20% of universities and colleges were only offering online classes as of July 1, while 60% were conducting both online and in-person classes. “We want universities to allow students to enjoy a hybrid of in-person and online courses,” Education Minister Hagiuda told the press yesterday.
