Chitose City requested the Hokkaido Defense Bureau for information, noting that “there has never been a landing without prior notice, as far as we know” and such landings will cause “anxiety among local residents.”

According to the Hokkaido Defense Bureau, two CV-22 Ospreys landed in Chitose around 12:40 p.m. The Ospreys took off about one hour later.
