Sankei wrote in a front-page article that a USG regulation prohibiting U.S. government entities from concluding contracts with firms using telecommunications and other equipment manufactured by Huawei, ZTE, and three other Chinese tech companies took effect on Thursday. According to the article, U.S., Japanese, and other foreign businesses need to ensure that the products and services they plan to provide to the USG do not include any  components manufactured by those Chinese firms. Noting that several hundred Japanese enterprises have business dealings with the Defense Department and other USG entities, the daily projected that these firms may be forced to shoulder additional costs as they have to find alternative suppliers in case that they have used the Chinese components in question.
