48 people connected to U.S. military at 8 Okinawa bases test positive for COVID-19

TOKYO — On Aug. 28, the U.S. Forces in Japan updated the number of people infected with the new coronavirus at each base on its website. As of the same day, a total of 108 people connected to the U.S. military at 12 bases were confirmed to be infected, and 48 of them were at 8 bases in Okinawa.


In the breakdown of cases,  there were 18 at Camp Courtney, 8 each at Camp Zukeran and Camp Hansen, 5 at the Makiminato Service Area (Camp Kinser), 3 at Camp Schwab, 1 at the Futenma Air Station, 4 at the Kadena Air Base, and 1 at the Torii Communication Station.
