Gov’t to tap Hideki Tarumi as MHLW vice-minister

At a cabinet meeting on Sept. 4, the government approved a plan to remove Masahiko Suzuki from the post of vice-minister of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) as of Sept. 14 and appoint Hideki Tarumi, who is currently head of the Cabinet Secretariat’s Office for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control, as Suzuki’s successor.
