NHK reported that the GOJ has decided to appoint Meiji Kakizaki, a deputy chief editorial writer of Kyodo News, a special advisor to Prime Minister Suga. According to the network, Kakizaki joined Kyodo News after working for Mainichi Shimbun and has been a deputy chief editorial writer since last September. He will take up his new post on Oct. 1. Chief Cabinet Secretary Kato reportedly told the press this morning: “Mr. Kakizaki has been working in a media organization and reporting on the political and administrative sectors, and has held such positions as deputy chief editorial writer. Prime Minister Suga decided that he would be appropriate to serve as a special advisor in light of his vast knowledge and experience.”
