NHK reported that at a meeting today to assess the coronavirus infection situation in Tokyo, experts decided to keep the coronavirus alert at the second highest of four levels. The experts pointed out that a high degree of vigilance is required because the number of new cases and patients whose routes of infection are unknown are increasing again. The network said the average daily tally for the seven days through Sept. 30 was about 184, a major increase from the tally for the previous week, which was about 145. The alert for the medical care system in the prefecture has remained at the second highest level for 13 consecutive weeks.
