Gov’t to allocate 36.5 billion yen in base subsidies

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced on Oct. 23 that the government will allocate a total of 36.54 billion yen in fiscal 2020 base subsidies and adjustment subsidies by year-end to a total of 296 municipalities in 45 prefectures as well as to Tokyo’s special wards that host U.S. military bases and Self-Defense Forces (SDF) facilities.


Of the 36.54 billion yen, base subsidies total 29.14 billion yen and adjustment subsidies come to 7.4 billion yen. Iwakuni City in Yamaguchi Prefecture will receive 2.52 billion yen, the most of any municipality, followed by Yokosuka City, which will receive 2.31 billion yen, and Misawa City in Aomori Prefecture, which will be given 2.14 billion yen.
