On Oct. 26, the Okinawa police arrested two 21-year-old U.S. Marines stationed at the U.S. military Futenma airfield on charges of damaging property. The suspects allegedly broke the holder of a vertical flag in front of a store on a street in the Goya district, Okinawa City, by throwing the holder against a wall. Both suspects deny the charges, saying “I did not break the base.” The two were reportedly drinking alcohol.
