TBS reported at noon that the number of coronavirus cases in Tokyo is gradually increasing, saying that the average number of cases per day over the last week topped 200 for the first time in about two months. The network quoted Tokyo Governor Koike as telling reporters: “Looking at the latest trend, I’m worried about whether we’ll be able to keep infections under control.” According to the network, the daily tally in Tokyo on Saturday reached 294 and the average number of cases per day for the week preceding Nov. 8 was 201.7. This represents an increase of 50 from just two weeks ago when the corresponding figure was 151. The network said attention will be focused on whether the coronavirus alert level will be raised by one notch to the highest level at the next monitoring meeting slated for Nov. 12 as the average number of cases per day has substantially exceeded the number recorded when the alert level was raised to the highest level on July 15.
