On Nov. 28, the Okinawa police arrested on the spot a 24-year-old U.S. Marine Corps first lieutenant stationed at Camp Hansen on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving under the influence of alcohol). The serviceman denies the charge, saying, “I did not drink alcohol.”
The allegation is that at around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 28, the suspect drove his car on a street in the town of Chatan under the influence of alcohol. A Breathalyzer test indicated a level of alcohol about three times that of the legal limit.
