NHK reported that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will request medical institutions secure a total of 200 beds for seriously ill COVID-19 patients, 50 more than the current number of beds available, after the number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients in Tokyo reached a record high of 70 on Nov. 30. The network said Tokyo will also request medical institutions secure a total of 3,000 beds for COVID-19 patients, an increase of 360 from the current number.
