Record high number of COVID-19 cases detected nationwide yesterday

All national papers reported that over 2,810 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus across the nation on Wednesday, including 572 in Tokyo, 427 in Osaka, and 245 in both Kanagawa and Aichi. In addition to Aichi, five prefectures reported the highest number of new cases, including Hiroshima (77) and Kyoto (75). A total of 42 people died of the virus nationwide yesterday. According to the Health Ministry, the number of patients in serious condition rose to a record 555 nationwide as of Tuesday, up 19 from a day before.
