NHK reported that according to the National Police Agency, at least 122 people across the nation who tested positive for COVID-19 have died at home after their conditions suddenly took a turn for the worse, saying that the number of cases in which people’s conditions have suddenly worsened has been on the rise since last month. The network said police across the nation are investigating the causes of death of people who died in places other than medical institutions. The network said the number of such people reached 56 in December, and 50 of them were resting at home or in hotels. In addition, the network said there were some cases in which people were found to be infected with the virus postmortem because they could not receive medical attention in time.
