All national papers reported on Sunday that more than 4,000 people had died from the novel coronavirus nationwide as of Saturday, saying that the death toll increased by 1,000 to 4,000 in just two weeks and that it took a month for the figure to increase from 2,000 to 3,000. Public health experts attributed the skyrocketing death toll to the spike in new cases having stretched the hospital system to the limit.
