Monday’s Nikkei front-paged a GOJ plan to conduct random PCR testing of a large number of people in order to grasp the extent of the spread of the novel coronavirus in the community. Commercial testing operators will set up testing booths at universities, airports, hotels, and other public facilities in Tokyo, Osaka, and other metropolitan areas beginning in March to collect saliva samples from hundreds of people per day. The tests will be offered free of charge.
