Kantei’s top security official bids farewell to NSA O’Brien

Nikkei reported online that National Security Secretariat Secretary General Kitamura spoke by phone with departing National Security Advisor O’Brien to convey his gratitude for the U.S. official’s efforts to strengthen the bilateral alliance and ensure regional peace and stability. In the 15-minute conversation, the two officials reportedly agreed on the importance of maintaining mutual coordination under the Biden administration. They also reaffirmed the significance of deepening quadrilateral cooperation between the U.S., Japan, India, and Australia.
