Tokyo, Jan. 25 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s fiscal and monetary policies have been “fairly successful” amid the coronavirus pandemic, BOJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said Monday.

The policies helped stabilize financial markets, prevent corporate failures and maintain employment, Kuroda said in an online event related to the World Economic Forum.

The BOJ chief also said Japan’s economy is expected to recover to the prepandemic level “probably by the end of fiscal 2021 or early fiscal 2022.”

For economic growth in the future, “digitalization is critically important,” he added.
