Suga Cabinet has spent 500 million yen of Cabinet Secretariat classified fund

During a press conference on Jan. 29, Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato said roughly 500 million yen has been spent from the Cabinet Secretariat classified fund (remuneration expenses of the Cabinet Secretariat) since the launch of the Cabinet of Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga last September. Of that amount, roughly 360 million yen was spent on promoting policies, expenses for which can be allocated at the discretion of the chief cabinet secretary.

Kato said, “I would like to refrain from explaining the details of the expenditures.” He added, “We will use the fund appropriately so as not to invite the public’s distrust.”
