NHK reported this afternoon that Prime Minister Suga and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau held a teleconference for about 20 minutes this morning and confirmed close cooperation on global challenges, including measures against COVID-19 and climate change. According to the network, Suga reportedly expressed hope that the two nations will work closely toward strengthening the international order through such events as the G7 Summit to be hosted by the UK in June. The two leaders also reportedly agreed to address North Korea’s ship-to-ship transfer of goods and to strengthen cooperation toward realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific.
