U.S. Navy carries out training in South China Sea

Yomiuri spotlighted a 7th Fleet announcement on Tuesday that two carrier strike groups conducted a joint drill in the South China Sea on the same day for the purpose of improving operational coordination and command and control capabilities. The USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Nimitz, and other warships participated in the training, which was the first one of its kind under the Biden administration. While quoting the U.S. Navy as saying that the exercise represents the U.S. commitment to realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific, the daily said it was perhaps intended to remind China that the Biden administration will maintain the previous administration’s hard line toward it.
