PM Suga holds talks with BOJ’s Kuroda

Tokyo, Feb. 18 (Jiji Press)–Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Thursday held talks with Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda for the first time since Sept. 23 last year.

According to Kuroda, the two leaders discussed the Japanese and overseas economic situations amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

“I said (to Suga) that exports have recovered to levels before the pandemic and that private consumption is picking up somewhat,” Kuroda told reporters.

Suga made no comment when Kuroda told him that the BOJ will announce the outcome of its review of the current unconventional monetary policy measures in March, according to the central bank head.
