Ryukyu Shimpo front-paged a report saying that in response to the arrest of a Marine belonging to Camp Courtney on suspicion of indecent assault against a local woman, the Okinawa prefectural assembly unanimously adopted on Wednesday a resolution and a written opinion of protest against the incident. The assembly called on the U.S. military and the governments of the United States and Japan to have the military discipline its servicemembers and take measures to prevent a recurrence. The assembly condemned the alleged assault as a crime infringing on human dignity. Okinawa Times ran a similar inside-page report.
