All national dailies reported on Saturday that Tokyo Olympics organizing committee President Hashimoto spoke to the media on Friday and said that the committee is not considering holding the Tokyo Games without spectators at this point. She also reportedly said the Games will be held as planned and dismissed the possibility of canceling or postponing them. Asahi quoted her as saying: “Athletes would definitely question why spectators are not allowed at the Olympics and Paralympics when other sporting events are welcoming them.” Hashimoto reportedly said she will decide whether to allow spectators by the end of March after holding discussions with the IOC.
