On March 3, Secretary General Emiko Matsuo and other senior officials of the National Personnel Authority attended a lecture about work-style reform and the childcare leave system for public employees of Sweden by Swedish Ambassador to Japan Pereric Hogberg at the nation’s embassy in Tokyo. The ambassador said about his country’s childcare leave system, “We adopted a childcare leave system designed for both parents for the first time in the world.” He also introduced a system that guarantees 90% of the salary of someone who takes parental leave for 390 days. Some staff members of the National Personnel Authority listened to the online lecture.
