TOKYO – The publisher of The Japan Times said Sunday it will stop printing the Sunday tabloid edition of the English-language daily and replace it with a weekend issue published on Saturdays from April.
The new publication, priced at 350 yen ($3), will combine content from the existing Japan Times On Sunday with articles from the weekend edition of The New York Times International, it said.
The Japan Times Ltd. also said in an announcement that it will raise the monthly subscription price of the newspaper from April to 6,500 yen from the current 5,660 yen.
The price of a single print issue on weekdays will increase to 260 yen from the current 230 yen.
The digital subscription fee of 3,000 yen per month will remain unchanged, offering unlimited access to all content.
