The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) patrol confirmed that two China Coast Guard vessels were in the contiguous zone of Japan’s territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands (Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture) on Mar. 7.

Chinese government ships have now been sighted near the Senkakus for 23 consecutive days.

According to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Naha), one of the vessels was carrying what appeared to be a cannon.

The JCG issued a warning to the Chinese vessels not to approach Japan’s territorial waters.
