On March 11, the environment and economy ministries held a meeting to discuss the relaxation of regulations on environmental impact assessments on wind power plants. They agreed on a plan to raise the capacity of plants subject to environmental assessments from the current 10,000kW or more to 50,000kW or more. The easing of regulations is expected to prompt the introduction of wind power generation. Hopes are high for wind power as a renewable energy source. (Abridged)
