Prime Minister Suga receives first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

NHK reported at noon that Prime Minister Suga received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at a Tokyo hospital this morning in preparation for his scheduled visit to the U.S. for a summit meeting with President Biden in early April. Suga reportedly told the press: “I got vaccinated today as part of an agreement between the two nations to take thorough measures against the novel coronavirus ahead of the bilateral summit scheduled for the first half of April. It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would and I think it went fine.” According to the network, the premier also stressed the importance of getting vaccinated and pledged to create an environment in which every citizen will be able to get vaccinated.
