Japan, India to hold in-person 2+2 meeting in Tokyo

Yomiuri wrote that it has learned from multiple GOJ sources that the governments of Japan and India have decided to hold an in-person 2+2 meeting of their foreign and defense ministers in Tokyo in late April, probably around April 24 or 25. The paper speculated that the two nations will confirm cooperation toward achieving a free and open Indo-Pacific with China’s hegemonic acts in mind. The paper also conjectured that the meeting is aimed at confirming security cooperation between the two nations ahead of Prime Minister Suga’s planned visit to India at the end of April.
